Type: Red
Vintage: 2015
Size: 750 mL
Grape: Grenache, Syrah
Region: Vacqueyras, France
Vinification: Vacqueyras is a tiny, relatively new AOC in the Southern Rhone sandwiched between the famed regions of Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas. It's here that a Seattle couple fell in love with the region and decided to purchase the estate, which was in disrepair. With help from 5th generation winemakers working in Beaumes-de-Venise, Chateau d'Arlene is being given new life through organic and biodynamic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. This vintage is for us a very beautiful expression of Syrah: a generous bouquet of wild black fruits-- blackberries and blackcurrants-- with earthy, foresty notes. On the finish, leathery notes appear on the palate, a beautiful sign of a wine with age.
