Hiyu Wine Farm

Falcon Box 2017

$99

The Falcon Box is a 3.8 acre area of the lower SE corner of the Hiyu vineyard. It has some sections that slope gently to the south, some east facing parcels and some undulating swales. It's planted to four different parcels named after the birds of prey that visit the property at different times of the year. It’s interplanted to all of the grapes that have descended from Pinot Noir in Burgundy since the early middle ages: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Aligoté, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Melon de Bourgogne. The varieties are present in roughly equal portions and are picked together in a single pass. As with many of the parcels, this can be made as white, red, or rosé, but in the 2017 vintage, it was made as a directly pressed white wine.
